UEFA Cup Lausanne Sports Stun Ajax

LAUSANNE, Switzerland, Oct 26 – Unfancied Swiss side Lausanne Sports stunned six times European Cup champions Ajax 1-0 on Thursday in their UEFA Cup second round first leg clash.

Lausanne's Argentine striker Javier Mazzoni scored the goal in the 38th minute when Marcin Kuzba headed on to him just outside the area and he swung a drifting shot past the Dutch club's goalkeeper Fred Grim.

The Swiss side dominated play in the opening half, with Kuzba the dangerman. He had a shot cleared off the line and two others sail just wide of a diving Grim.

Ajax, who breezed through the first round with a comprehensive 9-0 aggregate win over Ghent, had the better of play after the break but could not get past 'keeper Eric Rapo.
