MADRID, Sept 19 – Real Madrid made it two wins out of two as they cruised to a comfortable 4-0 win against an over-cautious Lokomotiv Moscow in their group A Champions League match at the Bernabeu on Wednesday.

Following their opening 2-1 win away to AS Roma, Real now top their group with a maximum six points.

Spanish international Pedro Munitis made the most of a rare first team appearance to strike Real's first on 39 minutes and won the penalty that allowed Luis Figo to hit home the second 19 minutes into the second half.

Despite the deficit Lokmotiv refused to push forward and effectively handed the initiative to Real, who never appeared to miss the suspended Zinedine Zidane.

The Spanish champions accepted the invitation and proceeded to notch two goals in the last 10 minutes courtesy of the effervescent Roberto Carlos and his Brazilian compatriot Savio.

Real had attacked from the start, with Roberto Carlos and Figo making good ground on the flanks to create several early half-chances.

On seven minutes the Brazilian defender slipped a sharp pass to Savio, who cut the ball back to Pedro Munitis, but the Real forward was off target with his drive.

A minute later Savio decided to try his luck from a metre outside the area but his fierce shot cannoned off team mate Raul.

TRADEMARK SHIMMY

Figo then broke down the right and after a trademark shimmy past a defender unleashed a fine drive that Lokomotiv keeper Ruslan Nigmatullin managed to parry out of harm's way.

Lokomotiv seemed content to cede territory to the Spanish champions and wait for their opportunity on the break and both Murat Izmailov and Nigerian international James Obiorah looked sharp on the rare occasions when they received the ball.

Obiorah did managed to outpace the Real defence on 21 minutes but his snap shot was saved sharply by Iker Casillas and the remainder of the half was dominated by Real.

It was keeper Nigmatullin who emerged as Lokomotiv's best player.

The Russian international reacted magnificently to divert a drilled shot from Savio wide of the post on 29 minutes. Four minutes later he pulled off a spectacular point-blank stop to deny Raul from scoring with a precise header.

But he was unable to prevent Munitis from opening the scoring for Real six minutes before the break.

Raul found space on the right, swivelled past a defender and directed a pinpoint pass just ahead of the advancing Munitis, who directed the ball past the helpless keeper into the net.

A minute before halftime Figo could have added another when he received a chipped pass from Raul just a metre out.

But the Portuguese international's dinked shot rebounded off the bottom of the bar and back into play.

Just when Real looked to be flagging in the second half the pocket-sized Munitis popped up in the area once more to win a penalty as he was brought down by Lokomotiv defender Yuri Drozdov, leaving Figo to convert from the spot.

Lokomotiv failed to respond and Roberto Carlos added Real's third on 81 minutes as he made the most of some slack defending to cut in from the left, check past Igor Chugainov and send his angled shot spinning into the corner.

Savio wrapped up victory with the fourth three minutes from time as he slotted into an open net after Nigmatullin had pushed an Albert Celades shot into his path.
