Brazil Stops Scotland in Opener
Brazil opened the 1998 World Cup by edging Scotland, 2-1, on Wednesday when, in the 73rd minute, a ball played in by Brazilian
defender Cafu (pictured, yellow) struck Scottish goalkeeper Jim Leighton (right) on the chest
and rebounded to the shoulder of Scotland's Tommy Boyd, facing his own goal. Boyd could only look in anguish as the ball bounced back past the
helpless Leighton and nestled in the back of his own net.
