TV stars Tim Allen of "Home Improvement'' and Helen Hunt of "Mad About You,'' the shows "ER'' and "L.A. Doctors'' and singers Garth Brooks and Celine Dion also were among those honored during the event Sunday night, televised live by CBS from the Pasadena Civic Auditorium. Three special "all-time favorite'' honors were given to Harrison Ford in film, Bill Cosby in television and Elton John in music. Last year, Ford won a best actor award, "Liar, Liar'' was named best comedy and "Jerry Maguire'' won for best drama. Winners for most categories were chosen by a special Gallup Poll representing 212 million Americans, ages 12 and older, rather than by industry peer groups as with other entertainment awards. All-time favorites were selected by a combination of polling and Internet voting. The winners were: All-Time Favorite Motion Picture Performer: Harrison Ford. All-Time Favroite TV Performer: Bill Cosby. All-Time Favroite Musical Performer: Elton John. Femle Performer in Television: Helen Hunt. Male Performer in Television: Tim Allen. Female Performer in a New TV Series: Christina Applegate of NBC's "Jesse.'' Male Performer in a New TV Series: Nathan Lane of NBC's "Encore! Encore!'' New TV Comedy Series: (tie) "Jesse'' and "Will & Grace,'' both on NBC. New TV Dramatic Series: "L.A. Doctors'' on CBS. TV Dramatic Series: NBC's "ER.'' TV Comedy Series: (tie) "Seinfeld'' and "Frasier,'' both on NBC. Female Musical Performer: Celine Dion. Male Musical Performer: Garth Brooks. Actor in a Motion Picture: Tom Hanks. Actress in a Motion Picture: Sandra Bullock. Comedy Motion Picture: "There's Something About Mary.'' Dramatic Motion Picture: "Titanic.'' Motion Picture: "Titanic.''
