Critics' Corner Rita Kempley - Style section, "A sluggish, sputtering tune-fest performed almost entirely by the vocally challenged." Desson Howe - Weekend section, "Disarmingly sweet and funny." Go to Video Finder The theme is love -- the troubled variety. Holden finally buys a ring for his fiancee, Skylar (Drew Barrymore), but he soon discovers his baby doesn't care quite as much as he thought. In Skylar's affluent, Upper East Side apartment, her father, Bob (Alan Alda), is devoted to his wife, Steffi (Goldie Hawn), a white-wine liberal for radical-chic causes. But Steffi clearly holds a torch for her ex-husband, Joe Berlin (Woody Allen), now an expatriate in Paris. Joe himself is caught in a cycle of ill-fated romantic relationships. The ripple of dissatisfaction extends to Von (Julia Roberts), an attractive neurotic who's singing the romantic blues about her actor-husband. It happens that Joe's precocious daughter DJ likes to eavesdrop on Von's therapist. When she hears Von opening up about her private life, DJ smells a match made in heaven with her father. -- Desson Howe Director: Woody Allen Cast: Alan Alda; Woody Allen; Drew Barrymore; Goldie Hawn; Julia Roberts; Tim Roth; David Ogden Stiers; Lukas Haas; Gaby Hoffman; Natasha Lyonne; Edward Norton, II; Natalie Portman Running Time: Filmographies: Alan Alda; Woody Allen; Drew Barrymore; Goldie Hawn; Julia Roberts; Tim Roth; Edward Norton;Lukas Haas
