Scene from this movie "Hoodlum" tells the story of Ellsworth "Bumpy" Johnson (Laurence Fishburne), an erudite gangster who in the mid-'30s bloodily fought the Dutch Schultz (Tim Roth) gang to a standstill in the battle over the Harlem numbers racket.

Like any skillful politician, Bumpy realizes that the ultimate salvation of his fortune and mission is in achieving alliances. Thus he negotiates with Lucky Luciano (Andy Garcia) as a way of setting Dutch up, so that, in the end, it's Lucky who must deal with the Dutchman, not Bumpy or any pals. -- Stephen Hunter
