'That Old Feeling'

Scene from this movie Carl Reiner creates a family-squabbling comedy that lands somewhere between cute and lukewarm. This farce of remarriages pretty much depends on what you think of Bette Midler. She’s Lilly Leonard, a bitchy divorcee whose second husband is a drippy, touchy-feely psychologist. But her real passion, we come to learn, still lies with her ex, Dan (Dennis Farina), who’s stuck with a nipped-and-tucked harpie for a new spouse.

When Lilly and Dan are invited to attend their daughter’s wedding, they start a party-ruinous row which leads to -- well, if you can’t guess, you’d better go see this movie. Making an impressive debut as a sort of Joe Pesci Jr. is Danny Nucci, as a relentless tabloid photographer who’s the bane of actress Lilly’s existence. -- Desson Howe
