'Tin Cup'
Roy "Tin Cup" McAvoy (Kevin Costner) has always gone for the spectacular hole-in-one,
rather than the safe shot. Consequently, he has never made it to the big leagues, while
his lesser rival, David Simms, has learned how to play par and hit the
big time.
When super confident therapist Dr. Molly Griswald (Rene Russo) shows up for
lessons, Roy is smitten. For one thing, she’s wise to his ways. For another, she’s going out with
Simms. Mad enough about her to do anything, Roy decides to win the U.S. Open. With
Romeo at his side, he’ll trounce Simms once and for all, win Molly and set himself up
as a pro. -- Desson Howe
