ArtSites '98
For the third time in six years, the ArtSites project is highlighting the varied work of local artists. Seventy-six of the area's finest are on display at 11 partner sites, from the Arlington Arts Center to the Washington Center for Photography, with each venue's show organized around a unique theme. And at the Corcoran Gallery of Art, a show called "Finding a Place in the World," curated by Terrie Sultan and on display through July 27, ties the whole endeavor together. Each art space is represented by one work, and the result, says Sultan, is a "teasing sample" that serves as a focal point for the entire ArtSites project. In addition to the works on exhibit, a video display cycles through a larger sampling of artwork. Style Live presents a gallery of stills from the ArtSites shows. You can also read Ferdinand Protzman's overview of the exhibitions.
