Use and Operation
Taking a picture: Press the button, hear an unmistakable mechanical shutter. Seven-second wait between shots.
Image output: A little less than four minutes to transfer a full roll of film to computer.
Battery life: 25 shots, plus lots of on time doing various things. (Manual claims 100 pictures, half using LCD.) Uses four AA batteries.
Image quality: Very sharp, contrasty, good color rendition. Although the Kodak outstripped it in resolution, it was hard to tell.
Overall Assessment
How much would you pay for this? Almost the $600 or so being charged for it.
Comments: A very good example of how digital technology can be packaged for a consumer camera. It's as easy to use as a film camera, and changing SmartCard storage is actually easier than changing film (particularly on a cold day!).
But: These things should be packaged with extra storage cards and extra rechargeable batteries!
