  FAQ Checking

April 3, 1998

If you need to know it, odds are it's in a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) file – a distillation of the collective wisdom of a Usenet newsgroup, mailing list or other online community on one subject. Finding the right FAQ file, however, is not so easy; to save time, use one of the Web's FAQ archives. We used to recommend the FAQ Finder page at http://ps.superb.net/FAQ, but since that's temporarily offline for updating, try http://www.faqs.org/faqs instead. It offers several ways to browse its catalogue of newsgroup FAQs – by newsgroup name, an Acorn-to-Zoroastrianism list of topics, or with its (occasionally inaccurate) search function. — Rob Pegoraro rob@twp.com
