www.worth it Gift Guidance April 30, 1999
Unfortunately, the world has lately been a growth market for charities. Fortunately, the Web makes it easier to give not only through non-profits that take donations online, but also through sites such as these three, which index and assess charities and offer guidelines for donating. GuideStar offers a database of 650,000 non-profits, along with a learning center. The National Charities Information Bureau evaluates fewer charities but provides more detailed information (with summary grades online) and offers useful information and suggestions for giving. Finally, the Better Business Bureau lists charity evaluations and offers a quarterly newsletter.
