www.worth it Folk Folks June 4, 1999
If you like folk music, you may already know that WFMA isn't a radio station, it's the World Folk Music Association. D.C. area-based, WFMA (sometimes pronounced "woof-ma") is a charming, shoestring operation linking fans, performers and venues. The site provides local news and lists WFMA events, such as the recent 1999 Benefit Festival at the Birchmere. The events page lists upcoming gigs and links to a gaggle of performance-site Web pages, useful for planning toe-tapping, hum-along outings. There are also links to local and distant performer pages, radio shows and sites at which to buy folk CDs and tapes.
