Time and Time Again July 10, 1998
Right after our recent item on the U.S. Naval Observatory's "time server," an alert reader suggested a similar site run by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Point a Java-fluent browser at http://www.bldrdoc.gov/timefreq/javaclck.htm for a nearly real-time, live comparison of the actual time and your computer's idea of it. Elsewhere on this site you'll find a frequently-asked-questions file http://www.bldrdoc.gov/timefreq/faq/faq.htm that answers such puzzlers as: "When does the next millennium begin?"
