WWW.Worthit Digging for Roots November 6, 1998
The Web has accelerated the pace of change in genealogical research almost beyond belief; as both general-purpose and specialized genealogy sites proliferate, the need to go out to visit physical record sites diminishes. Consider JewishGen: The Home of Jewish Genealogy http://www.jewishgen.org, proof that this branch of genealogy has greatly advanced in the last 20 years this Web site offers more up-to-date information sources than seminal books in the field. The site gives helpful "getting started" tips and checklists and provides advice for finding ancestral towns and conducting Holocaust research. Other areas here offer discussion groups, learning resources and opportunities to support the volunteer organization that runs this site.
