he browser is the most basic Web tool. You have one already, or you wouldn't be reading this. But is your browser displaying Web pages as they were meant to be seen? Newer browsers display more formatting that makes pages easier to read, and they make hearing sounds and watching video easier.
Unfortunately, choosing a Web browser isn't like choosing a new car. If you buy a new car, it will still be the top of the line in six months. Browsers, like most other software, constantly change as technology advances. Older versions can leave you chugging along without the latest power options.

What's the Most Recent Browser?
hat's a tricky question. The latest shipping version of Netscape's browser is Navigator 3.01, and the latest for Microsoft is Explorer 3.01.
Both of these browsers support most of the features you need to explore the Web.
Netscape recently released a beta version, or download copy, of its 4.0 browser, dubbed "Communicator."
Beta versions are cutting edge, but they still have bugs that need working out.
Which Browser Do You Recommend?
Most of the world still uses Netscape Navigator 2.0, and you'll be in good hands if you use it. We optimize this site for Navigator 2.0, but the site will work in Navigator 1.2.
However, most sites look even better with Navigator 3.01, and that version automatically plays many of the multi-media elements you'll find on the Web.
If you want one browser that handles everything for you, go with it.
Microsoft's Internet Explorer also integrates multimedia, but we don't design specifically for it.
