Following are this week's Internet-only specials from participating airlines. The chart below covers flights for this weekend only. Fares shown are for round-trip travel from the three Washington-area airports and are generally restricted to flights between Friday evening and Tuesday.
We also list other Web specials, including fares that extend beyond this weekend, deals on international flights, and offers from budget airlines. This page is updated every Wednesday; fares are added as they become available. No fare is guaranteed until confirmed by the participating airline.
*EDITOR'S NOTE: This week marks the end of my journey with the Web airfares column, which I've been writing for more than five years. Thanks for the great ride. -- Kim O'Donnel

Other Web Specials
Fall in the Caribbean is the focus this week at American Airlines, which is offering slashed fares to various island destinations. Roundtrips are as low as $242 roundtrip (including taxes and fees) to San Juan, Puerto Rico, but we also have our eye on Freeport, Bahamas ($281), Grenada ($373) and Montego Bay, Jamaica ($380). Depart from National to get these rates, which are good for travel until Dec. 15. A blackout is in effect Nov. 17-22 and Nov. 24-27. Book tickets by Oct. 11.
A few deals to London are on tap this week, depending on your cabin-class preference. For a business-class experience, consider the promotion at Maxjet, which is celebrating its first year of service. The all-business class carrier is offering a $999 roundtrip from Dulles, nonstop, to London Stansted, between Nov. 1 and Feb. 28. To get the promotional fare, type "ANNV06" in the promotion code field. Purchase tickets by Oct. 1.
Economy-class travelers can look to Virgin Atlantic for a break. Depart from Dulles nonstop to London Heathrow for $516 roundtrip. The fare is good for travel between Oct. 26 and Dec. 19 and then again in 2007, between Jan. 7 and March 25. The hitch? The sale expires today, Sept. 27. Remember when deals to Europe were less than 500 bucks? We experienced a case of sticker shock when researching a so-called last-minute deal to Amsterdam this week. The offer at United Airlines is good for Dulles departures Oct. 2-5, returning Oct. 9-12. The reward for your spontaneity: $711 roundtrip. Purchase tickets by Sept. 29.
At US Airways, the Amsterdam travel window is a bit wider -- until Nov. 15 -- but you pay extra for the leeway. Depart from National to Amsterdam for $833 roundtrip. Ouch. Purchase tickets by Oct. 2.
