PROBLEM: Transporting purchased artwork too big for a suitcase.
SOLUTION: "I pack a suit bag with a zipper, one of the very light ones holding just one suit," advises Benedictine Valentiner, who as general manager of Blair House should know a thing or two about conserving important works. "I 'hang' my painting on two metal coat hangers, covering this with a jacket or light coat for protection. All of this goes into the suit bag, which I then carry aboard and stow in the airplane's coat closet. It works beautifully."
