Tip 96: The Ol' Socks-as-a-Sleep Mask Trick

"Last summer, we rented a cottage that had only thin curtains on the
windows, so that the sun woke us up early each morning," writes an
understandably peevish Peter Parker of Reston. "I hadn't brought along a
sleep mask, and there were none for sale in town. What to do? Finally, I
took a pair of socks and pushed the toe of each into the top of the other,
making an improvised sleep mask. Worked like a charm!"
We would never make light of such a resourceful tip, other than to add that
it probably works best with a clean pair of socks. A Washington Post
Travel section T-shirt is on its way to Parker. Got a travel tip of your own
to share? Cast your eyes on the fine print below.
