Tropical Storm Ana, the first storm to be named during the 1997 Atlantic hurricane season, failed to make much of a splash.

Ana was named on July 1 while 300 miles off the coast of the United States. The storm's winds never exceeded 45 miles per hour, barely qualifying it as a tropical storm.

Ana dissipated by July 3 without ever making landfall.
