The Syrian-Spanish Connection

Prosecutors say several Syrian natives who are members of the Muslim Brotherhood led a Spanish al Qaeda cell that allegedly gave money and support to the Sept. 11 hijackers. The Syrian suspects, some of whom go on trial Friday in Madrid, include wealthy, middle-aged businessmen who forged numerous contacts with Islamic radicals in Europe, the Middle East and Southeast Asia.
