People:
Iraq has a population of more than 23 million people, living in an area slightly more than twice the size of Idaho. The population is 75-80 percent Arab, 15-20 percent Kurdish, and 5 percent Turkoman, Assyrian or other. Approximately 60-65 percent of
the people are Shi'ite Muslims and 32-37 percent Sunni Muslims. Christians and other constitute 3 percent of the population.
