Japan tsunami: The route one woman took
Taylor Anderson, a teacher working at an elementary school in the coastal city of Ishinomaki, rode away on her bike when she learned the tsunami was coming. The map below shows the route that a friend said she probably took. The position of the figure on the map corresponds to the Google Street View image of the location. Point A: Anderson left Mangoku-ura Elementary School the afternoon of March 11, 2011. Point B: Anderson's body was found 11 days after the earthquake near a highway adjacent to the ocean — halfway between the elementary school and her apartment.
