Mogadishu:
Somalia's capital, Mogadishu, is home to a fledgling centralized government, established in October 2000 after a decade of anarchy. The warring clans that have kept the country mired in civil war are also vying for control of the capital. The new government does not yet control all of the city.

In 1993, Mogadishu was the site of the "Black Hawk Down" incident, in which 18 U.S. soldiers were killed in an attempt to arrest two aides to militia leader Mohamed Farah Aideed.
