The Capitals become the first of Washington's four major sports franchises to reach a championship since the 1998 Stanley Cup. With the 4-0 win over Tampa Bay in the deciding game of the Eastern Conference finals, Washington will play the Vegas Golden Knights in the Stanley Cup finals starting Monday in Nevada.
