A growing number of Republicans have called on President Trump to take swift action to limit the damage of his widely panned news conference with Vladimir Putin. Trump will speak to reporters about the summit this afternoon before a meeting with lawmakers, the White House said.
Ahead of the meeting, staffers provided President Trump with some 100 pages of materials aimed at laying out a tough posture toward Russian President Vladimir Putin. Trump ignored most of it, according to one person familiar with the discussions.
The Russian president’s agile hop onto the podium (vs. President Trump’s lumbering walk), his animated gestures and the way he often disregarded the audience when speaking drew the attention of experts.
