Special counsel Robert S. Mueller III has raised the likelihood with the Trump legal team that his office will seek an interview with the president. The special counsel’s team could interview Trump within weeks on some limited portion of questions, a person close to the president said. Mueller brought up the issue of interviewing Trump during a late December meeting with the president’s lawyers.
The president is said to resent the now-regular chatter on cable television news shows about his mental health, and some of his allies believe his aides haven’t pushed back hard enough on questions about Trump’s fitness for office.
In a binding ruling, the independent Federal Energy Regulatory Commission rejected a proposal by Energy Secretary Rick Perry that would have boosted coal and nuclear energy over natural gas and renewables in competitive electricity markets.
