Lindsay Lohan does first post-rehab interview and sounds remarkably self-aware

Lindsay Lohan has given her first post-rehab interview to Extra. In it, she sounds contrite, self-aware and focused on turning around her career. No, seriously, she does. During the brief appearance, the first of two parts, the actress talks about her focus on maintaining sobriety and her desire to get back on a movie set. She realizes, however, that the second goal won't be achievable until she can convince filmmakers and casting directors that she's insurable again. "I think that will come in time, where I'll be in the position to say that," she said, "because I don't think I am right now." "I don't want that to be what I'm known for anymore, the tabloid stuff," she later added. "I don't want that." Honestly, despite the fact that she's facing potential jail time in that grand larceny case, this could not be a smarter time for Lohan to...

Lindsay Lohan roots for Knicks at first post-rehab public appearance

(Reuters) Lindsay Lohan, who we have to admit is practically beaming, made her first public appearance since leaving rehab at Saturday's Knicks vs. Lakers game in L.A. Lilo attended with pal Pascal Mouawad, the jeweler who reportedly gifted her with a $25,000 diamond necklace....

Is Lindsay Lohan still in rehab?

In October, Lindsay Lohan arrives at court for her probation violation hearing. (Reuters) [Updated throughout. Originally posted at 10:01 a.m. ET] Despite reports that she left the Betty Ford Center on Monday after 90 days, Lindsay Lohan herself is denying that she's done with rehab. "I didn't leave [rehab]," said Lohan in a statement to the site Gossip Cop. "[I'm] going to the gym," she added. She may want to call mom Dina, who confirmed Lilo's release to E! News, saying, "It's a great day." Lohan also denied that she is moving out of her Los Angeles apartment, despite TMZ's report that her stuff was toted from the dowtown L.A. apartment to a $7,100-a-month Venice beach house. But, stay tuned, Lohan is free to leave at any moment. In October, a judge ordered Lohan to stay in rehab through Jan. 3. Earlier today, reps said the actress "may stay...

The non-Lindsay Lohan biopic: As confused and tortured as the real thing

Lindsay Lohan -- no dog, no pocketbook. (AP) If Lindsay Lohan can't play a troubled porn star in a yet-to-be-made biopic, then no one is going to use her life to make a movie about a troubled non-porn star in a yet-to-be-made biopic. And so it is that we may never have our dream of seeing model/heiress Lydia Hearst play a trouble-plagued starlet in a movie called "Dogs in Pocketbooks" actually realized. Hunh? Let's back up....

FBI contacted over threats to Lindsay Lohan [Report]

Lindsay Lohan. (AP) The FBI has been contacted in connection with a series of threatening messages sent to Lindsay Lohan, according to TMZ. Not only Lilo, but her mother and brother, Michael Jr., have also reportedly received "strange" messages telling them to stay away from Sam Lutfi (Britney Spears's ex-"manager") and Michael Lohan. Earlier this weekend, TMZ was reporting that Lutfi had been responsible for the harassing calls and texts, allegedly falsely identifying himself as "Mike from TMZ" and warning Lohan to distance herself from mom Dina. Lutfi denies having contacted La Lohan. Michael Lohan* confirmed (for whatever that's worth) that Lilo has indeed been moved to an undisclosed location -- a new rehab facility -- but denies Lutfi is the reason, citing "two other individuals who caused her to move for her safety." Sources: TMZ, Starpulse.com (*Just for the record, Michael Lohan released a public statement back in...

Judge orders Lindsay Lohan back to rehab

Lindsay Lohan arrives at court for her probation violation hearing. (Reuters) Updated at 1:50 p.m. ET In a court hearing this morning to again address Lindsay Lohan's probation violation, a judge ordered the troubled starlet to stay in rehab until January 3, but she will not be sent to jail and, according to TMZ.com, will have her SCRAM alcohol monitoring bracelet removed. According to the Associated Press, prosecutors had sought a six-month jail stint for Lohan, but judge Elden Fox instead opted to send her back to rehab one more time. Lohan cried after the judge delivered the sentence. "You are an addict, I hope you understand that," Fox told Lohan. Dad Michael Lohan was spotted milling around the courthouse. No word on whether he was there at Lindsay's invitation. In September, Lohan was taken into custody and spent a few hours in jail after testing positive for cocaine....

Report: Lindsay Lohan checks back in to rehab

Lindsay Lohan in a booking photo from her brief jail stay last week. (Getty Images) After a brief weekend of freedom (wisely spent in an attempt to hawk pictures of herself for cash), Lindsay Lohan has checked in to an undisclosed Southern California rehab facility, TZM.com is reporting. Lohan spent 15 hours in jail last week after testing positive for cocaine in a routine drug screening before coming up with $300,000 in bail money. According to TMZ, she's expected to remain in rehab until her next court hearing on Oct. 22. Source: TMZ.com...

Lindsay Lohan released from jail: updated

Lindsay Lohan is now in custody after appearing in court for violating her probation again in a 2007 DUI case, this time for failing a court-mandated drug test. The Associated Press reports that Judge Elden Fox denied her bail and did not hear arguments from lawyers on either side of the case before immediately having Lohan taken into custody; she was removed from the Beverly Hills, Calif., courtroom in handcuffs. Lohan admitted via Twitter that she failed a drug test, thanking fans for their support. "This was certainly a setback for me but I am taking responsibility for my actions and I'm prepared to face the consequences." Update: People magazine reports that Lohan will remain in prison until Oct. 22 -- the date of her next court hearing -- because she is being held by court order. "She will be held in the same conditions as her last stay,...

Lindsay Lohan checks into rehab

Lindsay Lohan has checked into rehab. People magazine reports that the recently sentenced actress has checked into Pickford Lofts, a sober house in L.A. She checked in Wednesday and is still there today. This news comes on the heels of reports that Robert Shapiro, former lawyer for O.J. Simpson, is in the process of taking over as Lohan's attorney. The "Mean Girls" star is still expected to report to jail on Tuesday, but it appears she is hoping for a reduced or altered sentence once the judge sees that she has taken positive steps toward rehabilitation. Lohan has been sentenced to 90 days in jail for violating her probation, to be followed by time in rehab. Gallery: Lindsay Lohan sentenced to jail...

Lindsay Lohan's new song: Hot or not?

La Lohan arrives at Perez Hilton's birthday party on Saturday. (AP) Sure, it may seem like all she does is fall into cacti, walk on clouds of white powder and tweet 24/7, but Lindsay Lohan is also one hard-working chick -- designing fug clothing, making documentaries that get her banned from India, increasing the world's stockpiles of spray tanner, etc. Lately, Lilo has also been busy in the studio working on new songs and if they lead to an album, it'll be her first since 2005's "A Little More Personal (Raw)." This weekend at Perez Hilton's birthday party, Lohan debuted the single "Stuck." Hear it over at Perez's site. Or, if you are Lohan music averse or otherwise unable to listen, here's a textual recreation of the experience: Bassy club beat (Think Britney Spears "Gimme More")... I'm going down down down I am not myself when you're around 'round...

Lindsay Lohan: Being a big baby?

According to the New York Post, erstwhile actress/failed fashion designer Lindsay Lohan is so steamed about a Super Bowl ad she's prepared to go to court. The ad in question is E-Trade's spot -- the one that featured a baby behind a computer talking to his girlfriend via Web cam. At one point, the girlfriend demands to know whether or not the main baby was partying with "that milk-a-holic Lindsay" last night. A third baby then pops into frame -- supposedly "Lindsay" -- and delivers the line "Milk-a-what?" And, apparently the name combined with the "milk-a-holic" crack was enough to convince Lohan that the character is based on her and that, hey, she should receive some kind of financial compensation for the "use of her name and characterization." Yesterday she filed suit for $100 million in damages. "They used the name Lindsay," Lohan's lawyer Stephanie Ovadia told the NY Post....

Gallery: The changing face of Lindsay Lohan

I'm hardly the only one to remark that Lindsay Lohan is looking a bit older than her 23 years of late. Some speculate that Lilo is the victim of an overzealous collagen injector, while her own dad suspects a little too much partying. Whatever the case, it's not the first time Lohan's looks have raised red flags. Earlier this week, Lilo made the unfortunate mistake of sharing a red carpet with the ossified Donatella Versace and the similarities between the two were, well, striking. Today, we track Lindsay Lohan's changing look -- from her debut as a kid star to her bottle blond, fake bake current incarnation. Click here or on the image below to launch the gallery: Donatella Versace (left) and Lindsay Lohan. (AP)...

Highbrow: Lindsay Lohan's Bombshell Bid

(Reuters) Lindsay Lohan roared back onto the pop culture landscape earlier this week when (NSFW) pics of the 21-year-old rehab grad aping Marilyn Monroe's iconic "last sitting" photo shoot appeared in the latest issue of New York magazine. When we said back in January that Lohan was ripe for career reinvention, mimicry of a drug-addled icon was hardly what we had in mind. Which is probably why the spread is so effective. It is at once profane and provocative, sad and seductive. But is the 21-year-old "Mean Girls" star merely basking in the reflected mystique of the long dead Monroe or conjuring some mythology of her own? Mom Dinah described the pictures as "tasteful" and "artistic." Though taste is subjective. One woman's tasteful artistry is another's gimmicky, naked play for relevance. L.A. Times blogger Monica Corcoran asks why it is that starlets insist on "channeling" Marilyn to prove they've...

Lindsay Lohan, Washed Up at 21?

Linday Lohan, always ready for her close-up. (Getty Images) I know what you're thinking: What is Lindsay Lohan up to these days? Since emerging from three months of treatment at Utah's Cirque Lodge rehab center in October, La Lohan -- formerly a stalwart of the Morning Mix -- has been relatively quiet. She's hardly reached Melissa Joan Hart status yet , but with Perez Hilton registering more name recognition than LL, she's dancing dangerously close to full-blown yesterday's news territory. We last checked in with Lohan over the holidays when the one-time singer/actress and current [TBD] made a minor ripple by sipping champagne and kissing her way around Capri by way of welcoming the new year. But when stacked up against the hospitalization of Britney Spears and, like, the return of late night TV, LL's latest exploits just seemed dull somehow. Lindsay Lohan was snapped falling off the sobriety...

Lindsay Lohan: A Changed Woman?

Lohan at the November 2006 premiere of 'Bobby.' (AP) Lindsay Lohan, fresh from a two-month stint in rehab, is like so changed. I know this because LL said so in a new SUPER EXCLUSIVE post-rehab interview with OK! Magazine in which the penitent party girl says she's ready to lead a different life. Though the issue won't hit stands until Thursday, OK! is already busy flakking some tidbits -- and an EXCLUSIVE gallery of her exit from rehab -- online. Rehab was "a sobering experience," said Lilo. "It made me look at myself and all the people, places and things in my life in a different way." By "different way" she must mean in OK! as opposed to at TMZ.com. Because surely making a pit stop with one of the skeevier tabloids while running as fast as you can back to Los Angeles isn't necessarily the best way to...

Breaking News: Lindsay Lohan Gets One Day in Jail

Lindsay Lohan accepted a plea deal that requires the starlet to serve one day in jail, serve 10 days of community service and complete a drug treatment program. With 21 days spent at the Century Regional Detention facility, Paris Hilton retains the most slammer cred. Nicole Richie has yet to report for her four-day sentence at the same facility....

Lessons from Lilo: A Little Privacy?

The paparazzi-savvy Lindsay Lohan at May's Costume Institute Gala in New York. (AP) We've talked privacy here before and the topic will doubtless emerge again as the unpredictable mixture of celebrities and a 24/7 news cycle continue to collide in new ways. This week, we look at the issue as relates to one Lindsay Lohan -- sometime child star, party girl and recovering addict -- who has been taking tentative steps back into the world. As expected, the paparazzi have been there to capture her recent outings. Last week, Lilo -- currently cleaning up at Sundance, Utah's swank Cirque Lodge ("Recently named by Town and Country magazine as one of the top substance abuse treatment facilities." Ahem.) -- made a quick trip to a local tanning salon for a little color. Then, over the weekend, she was snapped enjoying a whitewater rafting trip with fellow rehabbers. Then, just yesterday,...

An Ode to Lindsay Lohan on the Occasion of her 21st Birthday

Birthday girl Lindsay Lohan. (AP) On starlet birthdays, though you may not know it The Celebritologist Becomes a poet. Who do we honor? Let me explain: She sings, she acts, She drives on cocaine. That's right, Lindsay Lohan, Rehab darling du jour, Turns today twenty-one And is sober, we're sure. A paparazzi target Who parties real hard, She's left Disney for "Mean Girls," And earned that SAG card. But with mom a floozy And dad an ex-con, Lindsay's made a habit Of carousing till dawn. So a little advice For this most jolly of days: Keep your promise -- don't drink And renounce girl deejays. And for just a while Avoid those old haunts, Goodbye to the Ivy And to Chateau Marmont. Let's see a new LL Without coke and scotch And show the world You're more than a [Editor's Note: Liz can't use that excellent rhyme here. This...

Go Away, Lindsay Lohan

Lindsay Lohan, she's got the whole world in her hands. (Reuters) The story of the day may well become the story of the year. Lindsay Lohan has acquired the dubious distinction of being the latest in a string of celebutantes to face DUI charges. Paris Hilton was recently sentenced to an incredible-shrinking-jail-term for violating her DUI probation and Nicole Richie's fate will be decided in court on June 8 after her own December arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol, Vicodin and pot. Lohan's moment came in the wee hours of Saturday morning when the 20-year-old reportedly crashed her convertible Mercedes SL-65 into a curb around 5:30 a.m. Lohan was spirited away from the scene by friends. Cops later located the starlet at L.A.'s Century City Hospital and charged her with suspicion of DUI. They haven't yet decided who will face charges for the cocaine found in the...

Welcome Back, Lohan

Lindsay and Michael Lohan pose for photogs in 2002. (Getty Images) Watch out, world. Today at 9 a.m. ET, one Michael Lohan reentered society. Was it only two years ago that Lohan began his stretch at New York's Collins Correctional Center after convictions for, among other things, drunk driving and attempted assault on his brother-in-law with -- and this is truly inspired -- a shoe? Those two years proved to be crucial in the life of Michael's daughter, Lindsay, as she's attempted to make the transition from Disney darling to serious actress with more than a few detours into tabloid territory along the way. As it turns out, though, Lindsay isn't the only Lohan with a flair for the dramatic. Or, overdramatic. It seems we can expect great things from Michael -- if you consider a reality TV show based on his post-prison exploits and a self-help book "great...
