Chet Hanks: The son of Tom Hanks is an aspiring rapper. Either that or he's kidding.

Tom Hanks has a son named Colin. But, as noted by Gawker, he also has one named Chet whose fame is rapidly rising online thanks to the release of his new rap song, a riff on both "Black and Yellow" and a Northwestern University-tribute track entitled "White & Purple." Yes, you read that right. Tom Hanks has a son who is a Northwestern University student and an aspiring hip-hop artist. Some other fun facts about Chet Hanks: 1. His professional rap name is Chet Haze. 2. His film credits include roles in the movies "Bratz" and "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull." Surely you remember him from that 2008 summer blockbuster as Student in Library. 3. His Twitter feed reads like a toned-down version of Kanye West's. It's unclear whether that's intentional. 4. According to his Facebook page, his motto in life is: "Keep on Hating,...

Film's best fictional bands: A video montage

This YouTube clip attempts to pack as many awesome non-real musical artists from the movies (and at least one from television) into eight minutes as it possibly can. And it does a decent job; kudos for squeezing Marvin Berry and the Starlighters, Spinal Tap, Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem and Wyld Stallyns into one video. But of course, it's hard to watch without thinking of the bands that got left out. Where's the Commitments? Hey That's My Bike from "Reality Bites"? Citizen Dick from "Singles"? And, to echo one of the commenters on this video, where is Sex Bob-omb? The video promises there will be a part two, so perhaps we'll see the aforementioned acts there. In the meantime, watch part one, then feel free to comment on which faux artist you wish had made it into the clip. Found Via IFC...

Jeff Bridges visits Little Lebowski store, reaffirms Dude status in new video clip

Jeff Bridges -- who further cemented his place of affection in Americans' hearts by singing "Silver Bells" with Cookie Monster on "Saturday Night Live" (see video below) -- is the subject of a new American Masters documentary that's scheduled to run next month on PBS. Undoubtedly sensing a spike on the Bridges-in-the-zeitgeist meter, PBS has released a preview clip of the documentary. It features the "Tron: Legacy" star visiting New York's Little Lebowski store, a shop full of "The Dude is My Boyfriend" T-shirts that's (obviously) inspired by Bridges's most beloved White Russian-sipping character, the Dude from "The Big Lebowski." Watch Bridges explore the place of Dude-ly commerce ("Cool shop, man"), explain his initial reluctance to appear in "The Big Lebowski" (he didn't want to saddle his daughters with a reputation as a "pothead father") and express his happiness about agreeing to take the role ("Boy am I glad I...

Christian Bale caught on video ... singing the Powerpuff Girls theme song

Christian Bale is known for his seriousness and intensity as an actor. But guess what? When pressed, he will break down and sing the theme song from "The Powerpuff Girls." And this video proves it. A few things I love about this video. 1. The look Bale gives Peter Travers when he insists that Christopher Nolan beatboxed during a previous interview. 2. How Bale asks "Do you know it?" after his rendition of the "Powerpuff Girls" theme in a way that suggests he genuinely is eager for Travers to know it. 3. Mark Wahlberg's version of "You Got the Touch" from "Boogie Nights," which doesn't outshine his "Fighter" co-star's musical work here but is still pretty nice. 4. How absurdly hot Bale is throughout the duration of this video. When seen in a still photo, the goatee and long hair may give at least some of our readers pause. But...

Norwegian talk show gathers stars of the '80s for puzzling Beatles cover song video

What better way to close out the week than by watching Huey Lewis, George Wendt, Steve Guttenberg, Tonya Harding, Roger Moore, Philip Michael Thomas, David Faustino, Alphonso Ribeiro and basically every other bold-namer who we thought was safely stowed away back in the '80s sing "Let It Be" in front of a green screen in a promo for a Norwegian talk show? But, um, what is Glenn Close doing with this crowd? I guess "Fatal Attraction" qualified her for inclusion?
