7 years for Md. man who faked death

A defiant Maryland man who faked his death by jumping into the Chesapeake Bay near Virginia Beach has been sentenced to seven years in federal prison, which he says amounts to a death sentence.

Virginia man pleads guilty to sex trafficking of teen girls

9 die in area road accidents

At least nine people died in accidents on area roadways Friday and Saturday, including four people whose cars caught fire during wrecks and a 3-month old who was inside an SUV that ran off the Baltimore-Washington Parkway in Prince George’s County and slammed into a tree.

Local law enforcement officers honored for work on gun cases

Thirty-three federal and local law enforcement officers were honored Tuesday for their efforts in putting together cases that helped put gun offenders, armed robbers, and other criminals behind bars at a ceremony led by Maryland U.S. Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein.

Fugitive Deandre Kelly arrested in Virginia

Aided by local police and sheriffs in western Virginia, federal marshals have arrested Deandre Kelly, 29, of Northeast, who escaped from a Maryland jail in January and had been sought on drug charges in the District.
