Spring fever: Deep snow to cherry blossom peak in just a few weeks (PHOTOS)

Cherry blossom trees progressing, probably just over a week away from peak bloom

Normally by now, cherry blossoms would have reached peak bloom in D.C. But thanks to a harsh winter and slow spring, this year’s bloom is delayed about 10 days.

After slow start, cherry blossoms rapidly reach peak (PHOTOS)

It seems that we've gone from winter to summer in less than a week. It's no wonder that the cherry blossoms seemed to explode into full bloom in less than two days. I've never seen such a fast bloom on the Tidal Basin.

Cherry blossom peak bloom likely on late side of predictions

The colder than average March and chilled start to April has slowed the emergence of Washington, D.C.'s famed cherry blossoms. Peak bloom may not be achieved in the previously forecast April 3-7 window. Our revised window for peak bloom is April 6-10.

National Park Service pushes back peak cherry blossom bloom date

The Eastern U.S. is locked into a colder than average regime, and cherry blossom prognosticators are taking notice. The National Park Service yesterday revised its date for the blossoms' peak bloom from March 26-30 to April 3-6.
