NFL might address on-field racial slurs by enforcing existing rules

There is strong sentiment within the league that a new rule is not needed to penalize players for using the N-word during games. The ban might be implemented through a point of emphasis to game officials.

If Robert Griffin III wants a late hit called on a defender just after he gets rid of the ball on an option play, he must make it clear he doesn't have the ball.
