Republican Patrick J. Toomey has beaten Katie McGinty, a Democrat, in the race for the Pennsylvania Senate seat currently held by Toomey.

Toomey has worked hard to maintain afloat in the race, distancing himself from some of Trump’s hard-line stances and courting the state’s moderates. Meanwhile, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has focused on the hardcore Republican, blue-collar white voters in Pennsylvania’s declining manufacturing towns. The differences between the two approaches, as Toomey fails to take a hard stance for or against Trump, could affect how the Senator is perceived.

All of Pennsylvania's House seats have been decided. Republicans have held 13 seats, while Democrats have held four. Every House seat is up for election every two years.

Pennsylvania voted for Republican businessman Donald Trump in Tuesday’s presidential election.
