President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s remarks calling the death a planned operation conflict with the account provided by Saudi officials, who have said journalist Jamal Khashoggi was killed during a fistfight when “rogue” Saudi agents had tried to bring him back to Riyadh.
The video recorded by Turkish law enforcement of a purported body double for the slain journalist leaving the Saudi Consulate was released as pressure mounted on the Saudi government to explain what happened to Khashoggi.
