June 7, 2018 at 9:29 AM

Announcement from Graphics Director Chiqui Esteban and Senior Graphics Editor Tim Meko:

We are happy to announce that Youjin Shin will be joining the graphics department as a graphics reporter.

Youjin comes to us from the Wall Street Journal, where she worked as a multimedia editor, designing and programming interactive stories about topics as diverse as how bad it is to drive on I-95, how U.S. immigration has changed over time and the rise of women in the Senate.

Youjin has a background as a robotics engineer. Originally from Korea, she earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering at Korea University, before getting another master’s in Interactive Telecommunications at New York University and becoming a research fellow at the MIT SENSEable City Lab.

Please welcome Youjin when she starts on June 18.
