Announcement from Outlook Editor Adam Kushner and Outlook Deputy Editor/PostEverything Editor Mike Madden:

We’re thrilled to announce that Sophia Nguyen will join Outlook/PostEverything in a new role helping people outside journalism, who may have little experience writing, craft first-person essays and arguments.

Sophia comes to us from Harvard Magazine, where for four years she has been the culture editor. She commissioned book reviews and artist profiles, and she contributed great stories about the TV comedy pipeline, rising opera stars, urban education, and evolutionary biology.  Previously, she wrote for the Village Voice and RogerEbert.com. Her story memo for us was full of fabulous ideas.

Before living in Cambridge, Sophia attended Yale, where she edited The New Journal, which covers town-and-gown issues. She grew up midway between Princeton and the Jersey shore. Her interests include American poetry and sci-fi movies.

Sophia will move to Washington in the coming weeks and start on September 4. Please join us in welcoming her.
