App review: Steambirds

The aerial fighting game Steambirds lets you tap into your inner pilot and plot out dogfights turn by turn.

Players command airplanes by setting their course based on your predictions of how enemy planes will move. Shoot them down and move on to the next level. It sounds simple, but that doesn’t mean you can relax when you play. Once you get a handle on the basics, the levels get difficult quickly and you’ll have to really think to outmatch and outpace your enemies. All in all, Steambirds is a fun challenge for the armchair general.

The game is $1.99 for iOS and Android devices.
