David G. Brickley (D), Incumbent 4804 Kellogg Dr., Dale City, Age: 41, Vice president of Dominion Mortgage Funding Corporation; chairman, Northern Virginia Commuter Rail Committee; chief sponsor of legislation establishing Leesylvania State Park and requiring public hearings for school board appointments; former Virginia representative to the Metropolitan Washington COG; past president, Dale City Civic Association; former assistant county executive of Prince William County; former captain, U.S. Air Force, received Bronze Star for service in Vietnam; recipient of Jaycee leadership awards. Transportation, transportation, transportation! It takes the average Prince William County commuter two hours every day getting to and from work. The frustration, the lost time from our jobs and families and the cost of extra gasoline and auto repairs from stop-and-go driving are heavy prices to pay for being part of our nation's capital. We must fight for a balanced transportation system with reliable funding sources. Historic legislation was passed last year changing the highway funding formula to favor Northern Virginia. I authored the Virginia ridesharing Act establishing vanpool incentives. We secured $1.4 million for our new commuter buses and successfully fought for the Dale City interchange and the widening of Davis Ford Road. Construction has begun on the interim HOV high occupancy vehicle lanes on I-95 from Woodbridge to Springfield. But more must be done. i believe the Northern Virginia Commuter Rail Project is a sound alternative. We must also plan for a new outer beltway.
