If you're an online shopping addict, Shop It to Me (www.shopittome.com) may become your new best friend. The free service notifies subscribers when designer men's, women's and children's clothing goes on sale -- with deals ranging anywhere from 20 to 75 percent off retail prices.

Signing up is simple: You start by selecting from more than 300 brands, such as Marc Jacobs, the North Face, Levi's and Burberry (yes, you can click "select all"). Then specify what type of clothing you're looking for (pants, suits, shoes) and your sizes. The service scans about two dozen retailers' Web sites, including Saks Fifth Avenue, eLuxury, Armani Exchange, Thomas Pink and Babystyle -- and there are more on the way, promises founder Charlie Graham. You're then alerted via e-mail when stuff you may like goes on sale (you pick how often to receive updates: daily, twice-weekly or weekly).

I signed up on a Thursday; 24 hours later, I received an easy-to-read e-mail with pictures of (and detailed information on) more than 30 items that fit my specifications. Some were things I'd never buy, even at steep discounts. (A $105 wool cardigan? I don't think so.) But the site did clue me in to a $50 cashmere sweater. Hey, it's on sale, right?
