Auto-Train Corp. has asked permission to discount some fares and to increase others.

The Interstate Commerce Commission was asked to approve 25 per cent seasonal discounts on automobiles passengers and bedroom rates and to increase bedroom rates by $15. If approved, the discounts would apply on northbound trips from Sanford Fla. to Lorton from the day after Labor Day to Christmas and from Jan. 9 to Feb. 10 each year. Discount would be offered to southbound travelers from March 15 to June 15 except during the 10-days Easter holiday. March 17 to March 26, 1978.

The discounts would make the base fare for two adults, one child and a car $185, compared to the present $247, the company said.

Auto-Train also asked to drop its present summer half-fare for children 2 to 12.

The proposed increased fares would raise the price of a two bedroom compartment from $70 to $85, a drawing room from $100 to $115. The offsetting room from $100 to $115. The offsetting seasonal discounts would drop those fares to $63, $77, and $36, the company said.

Auto-Train's request also applied to its route from Louisville, Ky. to Florida which was discontinued a few weeks ago. The company said it wanted to change the rates in ease the serviced were ever restored.

If approved by the ICC the changes would go into effect Oct. 19.
