Solon Automated Services Inc., a laundry equipment services company, has reported increased sales and profits for the quarter and nine months ended June 30.
Earnings during the third quarter were $1.16 million (37 cents a share) compared with $1.1 million (37 cents) in the same period last year. Sales rose to $14.5 million for $12.5 million.
In the nine-month period, the Washington company earned $3.86 million ($1.24 a share) compared with $2.49 million (82 cents) as sales increased to $43 million from $35 million.
Schwartz Brothers Inc., a music merchandise wholesaler and retailer in Northeast Washington, reported record first half profits of $116,132 (15 cents a share) compared with $47,782 (6 cents) a year earlier. Sales in the period ended July 31 rose to $13.9 million from $12.2 million.
President James Schwartz said the increases reflect gains at Harmony Hut retail stores and second-quarter operations of the wholesale division, which was distributor for a number of recent hit recordings. Second-quarter profits soared to $76,514 (10 cents a share) from $16,737 (2 cents) last year.
Stanwick Corp., an Arlington management systems firm, reported profits in the first quarter ended July 31 of $650,796 (63 cents a share) compared with $601,784 (58 cents) a year earlier. Revenues rose by 24 percent to $5.5 million.
A wholly owned subsidiary, Stanwick International Inc., accounted for 79 percent of the recent quarter's revenues. The subsidiary is providing maritime services to Iran.
Manor Care Inc., a Siliver Spring health services firm, has estimated that profits in the first quarter ended Aug. 31 will be 23 cents a share compared with 9 cents in the same period last year.
At the Manor Care annual meeting, officials said first quarter earnings rose 140 percent as revenues jumped 34 percent. NO exact figures were announced. A year ago, Manor Care earned $158,000 on sales of $8.4 million.
Allegheny Airlines, in its monthly earnings statement, reported record August profits of $4.66 million compared with $3.1 million last year. Revenues rose to $54 million from $45 million.
For the first eight months of 1978, Allegheny has earned $20.9 million compared with $8.3 million in the same period last year. Revenues jumped to $372 million from $315 million for the company, based at National Airport.
CACI Inc., a professional research and analysis company in Arlington, has reported a 91 percent increase in profits during the year ended June 30. Earnings were $541.671 (53 cents a share) compared with $282.889 (28 cents) the previous year. Revenues rose 21 percent to $12.4 million.
