American Motors Corp. has given its 1979 Conservation Award to Daniel W. Lufkin, chairman of the finance committee of Columbia Pictures Industries.
Lufkin, of Lakeville, Conn., as the first Connecticut commissioner of environmental protection pioneered resource recovery and solid waste management programs. After leaving public servic, Lufkin maintained his involvement in environmental causes as a member of numerous land preservation groups, including the American Land Trust program.
He has been honored previously for his contributions in the fields of government, industry, finance and environmental protection.
P.A. Mack Jr. of Indianpolis will be nominated for a four-year term on the National Credit Union Administration Board.
Mack has been Sen. Birch Bayh's administrative assistant since 1971. Before that, he was involved in banking and securities in Illinois.
Ralph "Pete" Jewell has been named president of United Savings and Loan. He was formerly president of Hamilton Bank and executive vice president of Central National Corp., a Richmond bank holding company.
Jeffrey S. Wagner has been promoted to vice president and mortgage officer at Madison National Bank of Washington. Wagner has been an officer at the bank since 1973.
Robert J. McDonough has been elected president of Continental Bank and Trust Co. of Springfield. He is also the bank's chief executive officer and previously executive vice president.
Michael R. Lavington and Charles R. Hooff III have been elected to the board of directors of Virginia Guaranty Savings and Loan Association Inc.
Lavington is a former president of Kay Jewelers and is currently executive vice president and a director of Kay Corp., owner and operator of Kay Jewelers.
Hooff is comptroller of Charles R. Hooff Real Estate and was formerly director of finance and administration of Airway Engineering.
John C. Bliss and John H. Milton have been elected to the board of Equitable Trust Co.
