The National Association of Manufacturers has named John W. Fisher chairman and Alexander B. Trowbridge president.
Fisher is chairman and chief executive officer of Ball Corp. of Muncie, Ind. Trowbridge is vice chairman of the Allied Chemical Corp. and former secretary of Commerce during the Johnson administration.
Fisher joined Ball Corp. in 1941. He was named vice president for sales in 1954, corporate vice president in 1963, president in 1970 and chairman in 1978.
Trowbridge headed the Commerce Department in 1967 and 1968. Before that, he was assistant secretary for domestic and international business. Trowbridge has been a director of Allied Chemical since 1968 and vice chairman since 1976. He served as president of the Conference Board from 1970 to 1976.
Dr. John G. Picarelli has been appointed vice president, production, of System Automation Corp.
GTE Telenet Communications Corp. has named Holger Opderbeck vice president of product development and John K. Peters vice presidents of advanced network services.
Robert B. Hollinger Jr. has been named vice president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond.
Richard C. Brusie has joined the public relations division of Earle Palmer Brown as senior account supervisor. He comes to the firm from Ehrlich-Maines and Associates.
James T. Lynn, Washington managing partner in the law firm of Jones, Day, Reavis & Pogue, has been elected to the board of directors of Pfizer Inc. Lynn was director of the Office of Management and Budget, assistant to the president and a member of the cabinet during the Ford administration.
