Vitro Laboratories Division of Automation Industries Inc. announced several appointments and promotions recently. Michael J. Kelliher was named head of the Terrier Systems Department and will be responsible for management of development and production activity of the Terrier weapons system and UHF telemetry system. Alvin N. Townsend was named assistant department head and Judith A. Ryan was appointed assistant head of the Tactical Applications Department.
Kelliher joined Vitro as a systems engineer in 1961. He has served as assistant department head since 1979. Townsend came to the company in 1974 as an engineer/programer in the Terrier Systems Department after serving in the U.S. Army as a medical laboratory technician. Ryan joined Vitro in 1966. In her new position, she will assist in the running of a department that provides systems engineering and engineering and management support to the AEGIS combat systems engineering, point defense and surveillance radar programs of the U.S. Navy.
Vitro also made the following promotions: James L. Carruthers, vice president, business operations Gerald W. Davies, vice president, administrative branch John D. Miller, vice president, controller Thomas M. Robertson, vice president, customer relations Benton H. Schaub, vice president, planning and research and Robert H. Winfrey, vice president, industrial relations.
