Washington Gas Light Company reported increased profits for the 12 months ended April 30.
Earnings were $15 million ($3.41 per share) compared with $13.4 million ($3.05). Utility operating revenues were $501.4 million compared with $410.1 million.
The 36-cents-per-share improvement in earnings was due primarily to higher retail rates and the slightly colder weather during the recent heating season, the company said.
Cerberonics Inc. of Falls Church reported third-quarter earnings of $64.822 (14 cents per share) compared with $40,118 (7 cents). Revenues were $2.5 million compared with $1.9 million.
For the nine months ended March 28, earnings were $240,017 (51 cents) compared with $200,243 (35 cents). Revenues were $7 million compared with $6.3 million (35 cents).
Kapok Tree Inns Corp. of Clearwater, Fla., owner of the Peter Pan Inn in Urbana, Md., reported earnings for the 12 weeks ended April 12 of $344,000 (20 cents per share) compared with $744,000 (33 cents). Revenues were $4.6 million compared with $6.1 million. For the 28 weeks ended April 12 net income was $157,000 (9 cents) compared with $725,000 (27 cents). Revenues were $8.4 million compared with $10.5 million.
The company blamed the national economy and its effect on Florida tourism and competition for reduced earnings.
