Seth E. Schofield has been elected executive vice president of operations for USAir.

Michael Cassidy, a 1981 graduate of Winston Churchill High School in Potomac, has been selected as this year's winner of the Fairchild Industries' America Awareness Award, which includes a $1,000 U.S. savings bond. The award is given annually to an outstanding high school senior in Montgomery County and in the communities of other Fairchild facilities.

The United States Railway Association has appointed six persons to one-year terms on the board of directors of Consolidated Rail Corp. (Conrail). Four persons were reappointed to new terms. The new members appointed are Raymond T. Schuler, a former New York state official and president of the Business Council of New York State, and John Robson, an Illinois businessman and former chairman of the Civil Aeronautics Board. Robson is executive vice president of G. D. Searle & Co. The reappointees are L. Chester May of Chicago; local resident Wiley A. Branton; Sam Hall Flint of St. Simons Island, Ga., and Stanley E.G. Hillman of Lake Forest, Ill.

Samuel G. Walker has been named manager of sales and services for Eastern Airlines Inc. He will be responsible for the company's sales activities in the District and parts of Northern Virginia and Maryland, plus passenger and aircraft services at Washington National and Dulles airports.
