Seven Virginians have recently been honored by the Virginia Division of Industrial Development for their volunteer efforts that resulted in the establishment of new manufacturing plants in their communities during the year.

Winners of the 1980 Volunteer of the Year Awards are: Statewide winner D'Earcy P. Davis Jr. of Harrisonburg, cited for his role in locating the R.R. Donnelly & Sons printing plant in Rockingham County, which created over 300 new jobs in the area; regional winners Perry G. Davis of Hillsville, recognized for his work in locating the Long Airdox Corp. in Hillsville; Herbert S. Sumney of Leesburg for his role in 14 economic development projects during 1980, which resulted in a combined economic investment in Loudoun County of $31 million; Paul H. Wood of Charlottesville, selected for his work in establishing the Greater Charlottesville Area Economic Development Corp.; William E. Confroy of Halifax, chosen for his work in locating Presto Products Inc., a plastics products manufacturer, which created about 150 new jobs in his community; James Grzesek of Fredericksburg, recognized for his activities that resulted in the location of Tinby AS, a Danish firm, in Stafford County, and Edwin A. Joseph of Newport News, selected for his efforts in establishing the Virginia Peninsula Economic Development Council.

Ellen L. Frost has been appointed director of government programs here for the water reactor divisions of Westinghouse Electric Corp. Frost, a former deputy assistant secretary of Defense for international economic and technology affairs, will develop and coordinate government-related policies and activities for the division.

Orion P. Burkhardt, senior vice president for industry and government affairs for Anheuser-Busch Cos. Inc., has recently retired after three decades of service. Stephen K. Lambright, vice president for national affairs, will succeed Burkhardt in the office here. Succeeding Lambright is Louis A. Gatti, currently president of the Oklahoma Malt Beverage Association.

William A. Cosgriff Jr. and Richmond S. Corwin Jr. have been appointed senior vice president and presidents at John Hanson Savings and Loan Inc. Cosgriff will be in charge of marketing, and Cohwin will be responsible for operations.
