UNC Resources reported profits of $481,000 (4 cents a share) for the fiscal second quarter compared with profits of $15.16 million ($1.43) last year. The 1980 results included the gain of $28.65 million from the sale of coal operations.

Revenues for the quarter rose to $66.5 million, from sales of $48.06 million. For the first half of the year sales were $114.57 million, down from $156.66 million. Profits for the half last year were $11.03 million ($1.04), while the Falls Church company reported a loss of $253,000 (2 cents) for the period this year.

Scope Inc. reported a loss of $3.2 million for its third quarter compared with a profit of $523,000 last year. Sales rose to $19.2 million, up from $16.3 million. For the nine-month period sales rose from $51.6 million last year to $57.6 million. The company reorted a nine-month loss of $2.2 million compared with profits of $1.7 million for the same period in 1980.

Survival Technology Inc., a Bethesda medical equipment firm, reported fiscal fourth-quarter profits of $883,600 (35 cents), up from profits last year of $652,600 (26 cents) for the 1980 fiscal year. Sales rose to a record $17.9 million, up from $15.47 million last year.

The company also reported fourth-quarter sales of $5.22 million, up from $3.72 million last year and profits of $394,000 (16 cents) compared with quarterly loss of $149,000 (7 cents) last year.

Tesdata Systems Corp. reported profits of $521,000 (40 cents) for the third quarter compared with a loss of $30,000 (2 cents) last year on sales of $5.66 million, a company record. The McLean company reported sales for the quarter last year of $4.36 million.

For the first nine months of the year, the company reported sales of $13.51 million, down from sales of $13.67 million last year. The company reported a 1981 loss of $601,000 (46 cents) for the first three quarters compared with profits of $329,000 (26 cents) for the same period last year.
