Neal A. Sopko has been appointed sales manager of a newly-formed sales division of Dan River Inc. floor coverings. The new division, which will cover Washington, Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Kentucky, will have its headquarters in Arlington. Sopko was previously the company's sales representative for metropolitan Detroit, Mich.
Dart Drug Corp. has announced the appointment of Dennis N. Weiss as director of real estate. Weiss has been vice president of site development for Ponderosa Steak House and director of commercial development for the Berger Berman Group.
Stephen Hughes has been promoted to group new products manager for the Grocery Products Division of McCormick & Co. Inc. Hughes has most recently been a new products manager for the division, a position which will be filled by Thomas Myrick, who has been assistant brand manager for mixes.
John W. Emerson has been named sales manager for the mid-Atlantic region of Ocean Spray Cranberries Inc. He comes to the job from Van de Kamps Frozen Goods, where he was zone sales manager.
Woodward & Lothrop recently announced that Glenn Davis, formerly manager of internal audit, will become divisional vice president and controller. In several other announcements, the company said that Patrick Labriola, previously director of financial reporting for Woodies, will become treasurer; Thomas Betz was promoted from manager at the Prince George's store to divisional vice president and store manager at Wheaton Plaza; Gary Speicher will become store manager at Prince George's; Elaine Hough has been named divisional vice president for better sportswear and coats, and David Stovall Jr. has been named divisional merchandise manager for smallwares.

The 84 Lumber Co. recently announced the appointment of Ron Barber as co-manager of its outlet in Muirkirk, Md. Barber had been an associate in the company's Allentown, Pa., operation.
Hank Parkinson, marketing director for Speedy Printing Centers of Alexandria, has been named president of Speedy Cooperative, an advertising and purchasing group representing seven Speedy franchises in Virginia and Maryland. Lee Fitterer, owner of a franchise in Fredericksburg, will become vice president of the cooperative, and Walter Nicholson, owner of a Speedy store in Wheaton, will serve as secretary and treasurer. The organization also announced that Don Darr, a partner in Suburban Duplicating Co. in Silver Spring, will become director of production for Speedy Printing Centers of Alexandria.
