The D.C. Commission for Women has announced that apprentice jobs are available for women in the fields of steamfitting, plumbing and engineering.
The D.C. Joint Plumbing Apprenticeship Committee and the Joint Steamfitting Apprenticeship Committee will begin accepting applications today, 8 to 11 a.m., at 8509 Ardmore-Ardwick Road in Landover.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old and should bring a high school diploma and an official high school transcript or a GED and accompanying test scores, along with a birth certificate. They must also arrange to take the General Aptitude Test Battery at a local employment office.
The D.C. Operating Engineers Apprenticeship Committee of Local 77 will begin accepting applications today, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., at 4546 Britannia Way in Suitland.
Applicants must be residents of the District, Maryland or Virginia. They must provide, within 30 days of submitting applications, a high school diploma and official transcript or GED transcript and test scores.
Applicants for field engineering need at least one year of high school algebra.
