William A. Klauber has become president of the Life Underwriter Training Council. Before becoming president-elect of the council in January 1981, Klauber was chief marketing officer of Puritan Life in Providence, R.I. Since coming to work for the council in Washington, Klauber has organized the first in a new series of seminars on subjects related to the changes in life and health insurance in the 1980s.
In a related development, Arlene R. Foreman has been named director of training of the Life Underwriter Training Council. She was formerly an agent with Manulife and ManEquity Inc.
The Acacia Group announced the election of Eugene S. Koster as executive vice president for marketing; C. Lawrence Evans Jr. as executive vice president and general counsel; David P. Johnson, senior vice president of corporate services; D. Wayne Carstens, senior vice president of insurance operations and chief actuary; George A. Fortier, senior vice president of marketing, and Charles L. Larance, vice president of corporate communications.
The Acacia Group also announced the appointments of several new assistant vice presidents. Terry T. Huxford will become assistant vice president of insurance data systems; Daniel C. Walsh, corporate data systems; Paul N. Jones, operations and software division, and James Guntow, marketing financial services. In addition, John E. Pluhowski was promoted to manager of the Acacia video network and Margaret B. Clorety was named accounting systems coordinator.
Continental Financial Services Co. has announced that former Virginia Gov. John N. Dalton and Virginia Electric and Power Co. vice president and treasurer O. James Peterson III have been elected to the boards of directors of the company's two largest affiliates, the Life Insurance Co. of Virginia and Lawyers Title Insurance Corp.
In addition, Robert C. Dawson has been elected executive vice president of Continental Financial Services Co. Dawson was also recently elected chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Investors Mortgage Insurance Co., a private mortgage insurance company based in Boston. He will remain president and chief executive officer of Lawyers Title Insurance Corp.
James G. Smith has been appointed executive vice president and chief operating officer of Corron & Black Inc. He most recently served as senior vice president in the account executive department. The insurance brokerage firm also announced that Jacob J. Weiss has been promoted to senior vice president.
United Services Life recently announced that Larry Evans has been elected senior vice president in charge of policy administration and issue. Juan Paz was elected vice president in charge of systems development.
Carl F. Schaible will join the risk management services staff of the Wyatt Co. as a risk and insurance management consultant. He was previously risk and insurance management administrator for Giant Food Inc.
