William W. Berry, president and chief operating officer of Virginia Electric & Power Co., has been named president-elect of the Public Utilities Association of the Virginias. Berry will succeed Benjamin H. Hayes, vice president of division operations at Monongahela Power Co. in Fairmont, W. Va., as association president on Jan. 1, 1983.
Taking office with Berry will be James B. Berg, first vice president, and Donald L. Macke, second vice president. Berg is assistant secretary and assistant treasurer for Appalachian Power Co. in Roanoke, and Macke is executive assistant for Wheeling Electric Co. in Wheeling, W.Va.
In addition, Morris E. McCrary will become treasurer and George E. Laurey, assistant treasurer of the association. McCrary is assistant accounting manager and Laurey, general accounting manager for the Appalachian Power Co.
The Public Utilities Association of the Virginias is made up of investor-owned electric companies operating in Virginia, West Virginia and neighboring states.
Richard B. Norment IV has been named executive director of the National Association of Manufacturers' associations department. Norment joined the association in 1976 as director of public affairs in its Lexington, Mass., office. He became director of the association's department here in 1981.
Marylouise M. Day has been installed as secretary of the American Society of Appraisers.
Phyllis Himelfarb, director of meetings and conventions for the National Apartment Association, has been elected president of the Association Marketing Roundtable. Robert Simanski, director of communications for the American Cemetery Association, was elected vice president and J. Terry Turner, an assistant executive director of the American Trucking Associations, has become secretary.
Thomas C. Fichter has been named senior vice president and deputy general manager of the American Newspaper Publishers Association. He was formerly vice president/controller and assistant general manager.
Carlos Morales has been named director of administration of the National Society of Fund Raising Executives. He was previously vice president for development at the Broadcast Capital Fund.
Edward M. Shea, an attorney with the firm Ragan & Mason, has been elected president of the Maritime Administrative Bar Association. William Karas of Short, Klein & Karas was elected vice president and John R. Attanasio of Billig, Sher & Jones, secretary-treasurer.
Peggy H. Battle has been named director of dealer services for the National Lumber & Builder Material Dealers Association.
